Banana Oat Pancakes for Babies and Toddlers

Pancakes are pretty much one of the staple foods when we plan meals, it’s perfect for any time of the day, and a great way to introduce them to babies is by making them from scratch with fresh and natural ingredients.

Mashed bananas and cooked oatmeal are one of the first solid foods you may feed your babies, they are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber, easy to digest, and are not major food allergens.  

Gluten-Free Banana Oat Pancakes for Babies

This flourless, no-sugar-added recipe can be prepared in a couple of minutes and makes a delicious breakfast or snack for weekdays.  

2 ¼ cupswhole rolled oats, gluten-free, divided
3 pcs  ripe bananas
1 cupmilk, of your choice
2 pcswhole eggs
2 teaspoonsbaking powder
1 teaspoonground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoonground nutmeg
pinch of salt

Instructions:

1. In a blender or food processor add  2 cups whole rolled oats, bananas, milk, eggs, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

2. Pulse until almost smooth. Pour into a mixing bowl and fold in the remaining 1/4 cup of oats. Set aside to rest the batter.

3. Grease a nonstick griddle or skillet with a small amount of oil. Place over medium heat.

4. Scoop about ¼ cup of batter onto a preheated skillet. Once the sides are set, flip to cook the other side. Repeat until all the batter is used.

Notes:

  • Oats do not naturally contain gluten, but not all oat brands in the market are certified gluten-free. This is because other brands are processed in facilities that may also mill wheat, barley, and rye which may then contaminate oats and cause allergic reactions. Check for oat brands that are labeled certified gluten-free.
  • Serve as is for babies, while you may top with chopped-up fruits and maple syrup for toddlers.

Vegan Banana Oat Pancakes for Babies

A fluffy, tasty eggless pancake recipe with the added texture of the whole rolled oats folded in.

2 ¼ cupswhole rolled oats, gluten-free, divided
4 pcs    ripe bananas
3 tablespoonscoconut oil
1 cup  milk, of your choice
2 teaspoonsbaking powder
1 teaspoonground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoonground nutmeg
pinch of salt
extra coconut oil for greasing the pan

Instructions:

1. In a blender or food processor add  2 cups whole rolled oats, bananas, coconut oil, milk, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

2. Pulse until almost smooth. Pour into a mixing bowl and fold in the remaining 1/4 cup of oats. Set aside to rest the batter.

3. Grease a nonstick griddle or skillet with a small amount of oil. Place over medium heat.

4. Scoop about ¼ cup of batter onto a preheated skillet. Once the sides are set, flip to cook the other side. Repeat until all the batter is used.

Notes:

  • Make the pancakes ahead, let them cool completely then store them in an airtight container inside the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Just reheat inside the microwave or oven when ready to consume.
  • Serve as is for babies, while you may top with chopped-up fresh fruit and maple syrup for toddlers.

Blueberry Banana Oat Pancakes for Babies

Jazz up your plain pancake days with this naturally sweet and tart oat pancake recipe, use any of your favorite berries in season!

2 ¼ cupswhole rolled oats, gluten-free, divided
3 pcs     ripe bananas
1 cupmilk, of your choice
2 pcswhole eggs
2 teaspoonsbaking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoonground nutmeg

1 cup  fresh blueberries

Instructions:

1. In a blender or food processor add  2 cups whole rolled oats, bananas, milk, eggs, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

2. Pulse until almost smooth. Pour into a mixing bowl and fold in the remaining 1/4 cup of oats and blueberries. Set aside to rest the batter.

3. Grease a nonstick griddle or skillet with a small amount of oil. Place over medium heat.

4. Scoop about ¼ cup of batter onto a preheated skillet. Once the sides are set, flip to cook the other side. Repeat until all the batter is used.

Notes:

  • If to prepare for babies, smash blueberries first before folding them into the batter to avoid a choking hazard.
  • Blueberries are rich in various nutrients that can support bone and cognitive growth and as antioxidants.

Carrot Banana Oat Pancakes for Babies

This recipe is a great way to incorporate a variety of fruits and vegetables into your family’s meals.

2 ¼ cups   whole rolled oats, gluten-free, divided
3 pcsripe bananas
1 cupmilk, of your choice
2 pcswhole eggs
2 teaspoonsbaking powder
2 teaspoonsground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoonground nutmeg
pinch of salt
½ cup   carrots, shredded

Instructions:

2. Pulse until almost smooth. Pour into a mixing bowl and fold in the remaining 1/4 cup of oats and carrots. Set aside to rest the batter.

3. Grease a nonstick griddle or skillet with a small amount of oil. Place over medium heat.

4. Scoop about ¼ cup of batter onto a preheated skillet. Once the sides are set, flip to cook the other side. Repeat until all the batter is used.

Notes:

  • Carrots are rich in beta carotene which promotes healthy eyesight, skin, and immune system

Shorten your cooking time by making these recipes into sheet pancakes, pour prepared pancake batter into a greased sheet pan, and bake in a preheated oven until set. Just slice and serve.
